Group of runners in Santa outfits

Hampshire-based charity, The Brendoncare Foundation, is looking for Santas for its Santa Fun Run on Southampton Common on 4 December.

The 3km run will take people on an easy route around the common and is perfect for all family members to take part in. Last year saw 150 Santas running, jogging or walking around the common to raise money for the charity and Brendoncare is hoping to make this year’s event even bigger and better.

Brendoncare supports older people across Dorset and Hampshire through a network of social clubs designed to bring fun and friendship into the lives of  people, who may otherwise be lonely. Over 1 million older people say they are always or often lonely and loneliness has been shown to affect not only our mental health, but also our physical wellbeing as well. Brendoncare’s clubs provide older people with the opportunity to get out and about, meet new friends and enjoy a range of activities.

The charity also runs 10 care homes and four housing with care sites across the south of England. Its ‘Care for Life’ promise means that Brendoncare will continue to care for people even if their financial situation changes.

The Santa Fun Run is taking part on Sunday 4 December on Southampton Common. Registration opens at 9.30am with the run itself starting at 11am. All entrants will receive a free Santa suit (or hat and top for under 16 year olds) and a medal on completion of the run.

Entry costs just £10 per adult and £5 per child and runners are asked to raise an additional £50 in sponsorship to help support the work of the charity.
