Brendoncare Stildon Strikes Gold
12th April 2016
To be accredited, homes must achieve 20 quality standards, ranging from leadership and support to dignity and respect, as well as submit a portfolio of evidence. GSF Quality Hallmark Awards are presented to homes that demonstrate real improvement in the quality of care they provide. Many halve the number of their residents dying in hospital as well as halving crisis hospital admissions, leading to greater satisfaction for families, residents and staff and significant cost savings for the NHS.
Naomi Butcher, General Manager at Brendoncare Stildon, expressed her delight at the award, saying “The team at Stildon is dedicated to providing the best care to each of our residents, valuing what is important to each person and ensuring their needs and preferences are met each and every day. I am very proud that this has been recognised by the National Gold Standards Framework Centre.”
Staff from the home received the award from Karen Allen, Chief Executive of Skills for Care, at a special ceremony in Birmingham on 8 April.
The GSF award follows a recent inspection of the home by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which recognised Brendoncare Stildon as safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, reporting that “staff were committed to providing high quality, effective care” and that “people were supported with kindness and compassion.”
Professor Keri Thomas, GSF Clinical Director, praised Brendoncare Stildon and said that it was an exemplar for delivering the type of quality care people crave and deserve as they approach the end of their lives. “Staff in homes like Brendoncare Stildon are the drivers of a real transformation in care homes – delivering the personalised care people that makes such a difference to care home residents and their families,” said Professor Thomas.
