Santas on the run for Brendoncare in Southampton!

Brendoncare’s first ever Santa Fun Run took place on Southampton Common on Sunday 29th November. More than 100 Santas took part – adults, children and even dogs!

Braving harsh winds and rain showers, participants were treated to a Zumba warm up led by instructor Sue Russell, before setting off on the three kilometres route around the Common. Passers-by watched with amusement as a stream of Santas ran, jogged or walked past them!

One participant, Angharad Foster from Brendoncare’s Central Office, actually ran the route three times, making a total of nine kilometres. Angharad, who is Brendoncare’s Learning & Development Manager, runs regularly and is used to longer distances; she said: “Although I’m an established runner, I have never run in a Santa suit before, or even in any kind of fancy dress!”

The event has raised over £2,300 for Brendoncare, and the total is expected to rise over the next few days with last minute sponsorship and donations on the day. Brendoncare would like to thank everyone who took part, supported and helped make this event such a huge success.

Organiser Tammy Angus says: “It was a lot of fun, and hopefully left everyone feeling ready for Christmas! We were so pleased to see so many people turning up despite the weather, and we hope we can make it into an annual event."
