Di Haworth

Di Haworth volunteers at Brendoncare The Old Parsonage in Otterbourne, helping with activities on Friday mornings. Here is Di’s story:

Di Haworth

“My name is Di, and I am married with two teenage sons aged 17 and 19. They are both cricketers, so much of my summer is spent travelling around watching them play, which I enjoy.

“I am interested in arts and crafts, so on a Friday morning I come to The Old Parsonage and we do painting, card making and any other crafts the residents would like to do. Some of the things we make we sell at the summer fete and also at the Christmas Fayre.

“I became a volunteer just over a year ago. My mother-in-law was a resident at The Old Parsonage and during her time here I got to know the other residents and staff well, so when she passed away I decided I could like to continue coming here and be a volunteer. I look forward to my Friday mornings, it is really rewarding and we do have a lot of fun. The residents have all come from different walks of life, and always have a story to share. I hope to continue being a volunteer as long as they will have me!”

How our volunteers make a difference:

“The volunteers are always lovely and cheerful.”
