Brendoncare Alton welcomes the farm to their home
13th March 2015
Brendoncare Alton, a local residential and nursing home, enjoyed an afternoon of fun with local farm animals. The home is part of the Brendoncare Foundation, a Hampshire-based charity which supports older people through its care homes and friendship clubs. Brendoncare Alton also cares for people living with dementia, as well as offering a close care complex providing the independence and security of home ownership, together with access to many caring and communal facilities.
Residents were able to interact with a range of animals from one week-old lambs, Kune Kune pigs, donkeys, chicken and goats. The rabbits were also a clear favourite.
Mill Cottage Farm Experience is a mobile farm based at Holybourne, near Alton, Hampshire. They specialise in taking a variety of farm and other animals out to residential hones, as well as schools, play groups, children's parties and fairs around south east England as a hands-on educational and recreational experience for all ages.
Jacinta Grange-Bennett, Manager of Brendoncare Alton, said how excited the residents were to see and interact with the animals. “Everyone had the opportunity to hold and stroke the animals and there were smiles all round. One resident was reminded of her younger days when she lived on a farm and would help with vaccinating the cows. We would like to thank Mill Cottage Farm for a fantastic afternoon and their great support which enabled residents to participate in this fun event.”To read our other news stories, please click here
