Brendoncare Park Road residents are entertained by the 6th Winchester Wolf Cubs
6th March 2019
The cubs sang a range of songs including ‘Singing in the Rain’ and some Jungle Book classics such as ‘The Bear Necessities’ and ‘I Wanna Be Like You’. Anna, Charlotte and Lily each performed solo pieces on the piano. May played a solo on the cello, and George sang a solo ‘Ralph is a Rusty Robot’. The residents were encouraged to join in with the singing and thoroughly enjoyed the performances.
The cubs had also made a bird table which they presented to residents of the home. They talked about how they worked as a team to put it together. Jean, a resident at Park Road, said, “We really enjoy the cubs visiting and spending time with us. We would like to thank them for the wonderful bird table. It brings back memories of when I did the same thing when I was ten years old. We are all looking forward to watching the array of birds feeding from it.”
Multi generational interactions at Brendoncare Park Road have had some truly beneficial effects on both the residents and children. The residents feel invigorated and happier and the children have learnt how to interact with older people. The children have also discovered that the residents were young once!
Naomi Irving, Cub Leader, said, “This was our third visit to Brendoncare Park Road. During these visits, the cubs and residents have been getting to know each other through sharing stories and spending time listening to each other. Interestingly, some of the residents have a scouting history, so both young and old can share their scouting adventures. These visits are very important as they help bridge the generational gap. The interactions help build confidence in the cubs and make them feel they have a positive impact.”To read our other news stories, please click here
