Brendoncare’s Fundraising ‘Star of the Month’!

In the month of our 35th birthday, we are very excited to launch our monthly fundraising ‘Star of the Month’ campaign, recognising the outstanding support of our amazing fundraisers. This month’s star is club member turned volunteer, Kathy Haddock.

“My fundraising involved two events. The first was the Spinnaker Tower abseil in Portsmouth 2017. The second was the Zip Wire on Bournemouth pier last year. The approximate total of sponsor money raised over the two events was £1,500 which included Gift Aid.

"Joining the Brendoncare Kurling club in Wimborne in July 2014 was one of the best things I have ever done. Through Brendoncare, I have made so many good friends and now I am a volunteer hoping in a small way to give back something that they have given to me. Brendoncare clubs give so many older people who are on their own somewhere to go each week to meet up socially, which is so important to those who live on their own. This is why I wanted to raise some money.

"Brendoncare and the friends that I have made over the past five years or so have become so much a part of my life that I cannot imagine what it would be like without them. The Kurling club gives us all an opportunity to have fun together and share any concerns or problems we may have. It enables us to give each other the support and friendships we need. Brendoncare works hard organising events such as the annual Kurling competition in Lyndhurst which I feel sure we all appreciate.

"The Brendoncare team has been amazing and the support has been excellent. They were there to help calm the nerves and give encouragement especially at the Spinnaker Tower abseil which was quite daunting to say the very least.”

Congratulations Kathy on being our February fundraising ‘Star of the Month’ and on behalf of everyone at Brendoncare, thank you so much for everything you do to support us. We couldn’t do it without you!
