Brendoncare’s Fundraising Star of the Month - MARCH
29th March 2019
March’s ‘Star of the Month’ goes to the hugely talented musicians at the Yehudi Menuhin School. On Saturday 23rd March, six students - between the ages of 15 and 18 - put on a fantastic concert in order to help raise vital funds for older people.
Performing a fantastic variety of classical music including works from Bach, Mozart and Borodin, the students, who have come from all areas of the world to study at the school, captivated the audience with their phenomenal musical abilities. Audiences were treated to violin, piano and guitar solos as well as an incredible string quartet to finish the evening off.
The School’s origins of course lie with the celebrated violinist Yehudi Menuhin, who founded his school in London in 1963. It continues its original vision to give gifted musicians a holistic education, allowing them time to fulfil their musical potential alongside their academic studies. There are approximately 85 pupils between the ages of eight and eighteen; pupils are admitted on the basis of talent and passion for music alone, and those who cannot afford the fees are assisted on a means-tested basis.
The Yehudi Menuhin School has been a wonderful advocate for the work of Brendoncare and has been working hard on performing a wonderful concert to help raise vital funds for older people. Kate Clanchy, Head of the Yehudi Menuhin School explained,
“For Yehudi Menuhin, music was a gift to be shared with the community. We are always delighted to be given opportunities to honour this legacy, but are particularly excited to be able to help Brendoncare celebrate this very special anniversary.”
Among our guests were also some very special VIPs from Brendoncare Park Road who had a wonderful time enjoying the music, some bubbly and meeting the incredible young musicians. We’re so glad you could make it and hope you had a very wonderful evening!
The fantastic generosity and support of the Yehudi Menuhin School helped us to raise over £5,500, for which we are truly grateful. On behalf of everyone at Brendoncare, thank you so much for everything you do to support us. We couldn’t do it without you!To read our other news stories, please click here
