Celebrations at local care home

Winchester residential home Brendoncare Meadway is celebrating after being awarded ‘good’ following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC carried out an unannounced inspection of the home in September and found the service which it provides to be ‘good’ in all five categories of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. In its report, the CQC commented “Staff were calm, kind and gentle in their interactions with people and supported them to remain independent whilst maintaining their safety and welfare. People’s privacy was maintained and staff were caring and compassionate as they supported people.”

Brendoncare Meadway is situated in the historic area of St Cross in Winchester and provides residential care for up to 13 people. The small size of the home creates a family-like atmosphere; staff know residents well and are able to tailor care and activities around their individual needs and preferences. The home enjoys light, spacious communal areas and attractive gardens.

Brendoncare Meadway is part of registered charity The Brendoncare Foundation, which has been supporting older people for over 30 years. The charity offers a ‘Care for Life’ promise, which helps to keep people in their Brendoncare home, even if their financial situation changes.

Kate Green is the Home Manager at Meadway and expressed her delight at the ‘good’ rating. “The CQC report recognises the person-centred approach of each and every member of the team from the care staff to the chef and the maintenance supervisor. It is our privilege to be able to support the residents at Meadway and we are thrilled that residents and their families feel it is their home and that they are well cared for by the team.”

The home always welcomes new enquiries. More information about Brendoncare Meadway can be found by clicking here or by telephoning 01962 865784.
