Coronavirus guidance for Brendoncare clubs and homes

The threat of coronavirus is understandably a huge worry for all of us. Our primary concern is always for the health and well-being of everyone at Brendoncare. We have put into place a range of measures which aim to minimise the chance of infection in our homes and clubs.

Useful links and resources

For the benefit of people who are currently in self-isolation, we are collating details of the useful links and resources that people have been sharing with us, and we have set upa dedicated page on our website for this information. We will keep this updated with any additional local community initiatives and resources that we hear of. Please continue to check back to this page from time to time.

If you are aware of any resources that may help others in your area, please email details to communications@brendoncare.org.uk so that we can add to this list.

Current guidance for Brendoncare clubs:

In response to the latest government advice to delay the spread of coronavirus we have cancelled any non-essential large gatherings including:

  • the volunteer forums in Cosham (20th March) and Ferndown (27th March)
  • the Spring Swing on 27th March in Gosport
  • the kurling competition on the 25th April in Lyndhurst

From Wednesday 18th March all Brendoncare clubs will be suspended until further notice. We are saddened to be closing these services and very much look forward to opening our doors again as soon as we are able. We will be in touch with members when we know when that is.

Club volunteers can continue to contact their locality manager. Alternatively, please contact Central Office clubs admin on 01962 857099 or email clubs@brendoncare.org.uk if you have any questions.

Current guidance for Brendoncare homes:

We have maintained safe visiting to our care homes for as long as possible but following the latest government advice, to protect those over 70 and those with underlying health conditions, our care homes are now closed to visitors in order to protect the residents.

This is a very difficult decision for us to make, but one that is now essential and our staff will gladly facilitate conversation by telephone and video calls for families at this time.

Relatives can continue to contact the home manager. Alternatively, please contact Central Office on 01962 852133 or email enquiries@brendoncare.org.uk if you have any questions.

Current guidance for Brendoncare community hubs (within our care homes):

As of Tuesday 17th March, community hub clubs (which operate within our care homes) are suspended, this includes Stildon Day Centre.

We are saddened to be closing these services and very much look forward to opening our doors to members again as soon as we are able.

Club hub members can continue to contact the hub or home manager. Alternatively, please contact Central Office on 01962 852133 or email enquiries@brendoncare.org.uk if you have any questions.

The senior leadership team (SLT) of Brendoncare are meeting regularly to discuss developments and we have business continuity plans in place to ensure essential functions, particularly in relation to our care homes, are in place.
