Dance Alive! New dance groups for older people

Hampshire-based older people’s charity Brendoncare is opening two new clubs with music and movement to lift the spirits. The new clubs will run in Southbourne and Chandlers Ford.

The Southbourne club will meet every fortnight from Tuesday 14th April at St. Christopher’s Hall, Southbourne from 10.30am until 12 noon.

The Chandlers Ford club will meet every week from Tuesday 14th April at the Ritchie Hall, Hursley Road, Chandlers Ford from 2pm to 4pm.

Both clubs will be led by Malcolm Burgin from “Alive!”, who says: “At Alive! we're very excited to be working with the team at Brendoncare to bring these Dance Alive! clubs to Southbourne and Chandlers Ford. These clubs offer an invitation to everyone to come and dance together in an atmosphere of fun and friendship where the only thing to be is yourself! Dance Alive! sessions are designed to inspire creativity and expression whether you feel you're a 'twinkle toes' or have two left feet.”

“Alive!” is a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people, by enabling their participation in meaningful activity. Malcolm is the Regional Manager for “Alive!”, and has been working with older people since September 2007.

Brendoncare’s clubs offer older people a chance to meet new friends and enjoy a variety of activities, in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The sessions will normally cost just £4 each, but local people are invited to come along to either club’s launch on 14th April for free. The clubs are open to both men and women, and more information is available from Brendoncare by phoning 01962 857099.
