Recognising and supporting ‘hidden’ carers

With National Dementia Carers Day taking place this year on Sunday 10th September, we’re thinking about those people who are caring for a loved one with dementia, recognising the crucial role that many play.

Caring for a loved one with dementia poses many challenges for families and caregivers. Living with dementia requires having the right care and Brendoncare’s Otterbourne Hill development, just off junction 12 of the M3, aims to provide a comprehensive service, offering a care home for both nursing and dementia care, shared care apartments to enable couples to stay together and a community hub to support those from the community living with dementia.

Dr Simon Evans, Principal Research Fellow, Association for Dementia Studies, at the University of Worcester believes, “This inclusive model proposed by Brendoncare is to be welcomed… The operation of a community hub should provide access to activities, services and social opportunities for those living with and affected by dementia.”

The build for Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill is currently in progress and due to open in Summer 2018. More information about the development can be found by clicking here or by telephoning 01962 852133.
