Safe, effective and caring – local care home celebrates after ‘good’ rating

The home, located in Shannon Way, provides residential and respite care for up to 20 people and was graded ‘good’ in all five criteria of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. In its report, the CQC commented “Staff were kind and caring. Staff respected people’s preferred routines and activities were geared towards people’s needs and interests.”
The CQC also praised the good management structure and commented that “the registered manager provided good leadership and management for the staff team and was well respected.”
Carol Mayers, General Manager of Brendoncare Knightwood, commented “I am thrilled that the CQC has awarded Knightwood a ‘good’ rating across all categories. The team here is committed to providing the best care possible and this is recognised in the report. The CQC also noted the kindness and respect with which residents are treated.”
Part of registered charity The Brendoncare Foundation, Knightwood offers spacious, ensuite rooms, each enjoying a private terrace with direct access to the gardens. The communal areas inside are comfortable and welcoming, providing a homely feel for residents and their visitors.
