In celebration of International Nurses Day, meet the Park Road nursing team!

With 86 years of nursing experience between them, meet the nursing team at Brendoncare Park Road:

Amina – Registered Nurse

From Tamale in Ghana, Amina has been nursing for 30 years. She enjoys elderly care and has a variety of experience including community nursing in Africa. Her hobbies include reading, cooking learning and training, and her favourite food is ‘Jollof’ – a Ghanaian dish made with rice, tomatoes, onion and ginger.

I went into nursing because my father was a nurse. At a very young age, I observed the respect and trust my father had within the community – the smiles he used to bring to the faces of those he nursed and the appreciation shown to him. I knew at that time I wanted to be like my father – a nurse with compassion, patience, who was trustworthy and had a big heart.”

Camelia – Registered Nurse

From Iasi (pronounced Yash) in Romania, Camelia has been nursing for four years. Prior to this, she was a languages teacher for 25 years. Camelia likes to play chess and has competed in tournaments. She also enjoys ping pong, hiking and travelling. Her favourite drink is a strong, black ‘proper’ coffee with a touch of honey in it.

Alina – Registered Nurse

From Hunedoara in Romania, Alina has been nursing for 17 years, and has been in the UK for over six years. She has two girls aged nine and in her spare time enjoys walking, nature and relaxing with her family, cycling and swimming. Her favourite food is pasta.

I went into nursing on my mother’s advice because she saw that I am patient with people, and was thinking it’s a nice thing to help people. I enjoy my job because every day is different and I can help residents with their conditions.”

Ionut – Registered Nurse

From Brrela in Romania, Ionut has been nursing for nine years – five years in Romania, four in the UK. In his spare time, he likes going to the gym, going out with friends and watching Game of Thrones. His favourite food includes anything Italian and his dream holiday destination is New York.

“I wanted to become a nurse as I’ve always loved chemistry and anatomy. My mother also worked as a Registered Nurse. I love working and helping people, treating everyone with respect, dignity and compassion.”

Ana – Registered Nurse and Assistant Manager

From Cluj-Napoca in Romania, Ana has been nursing for 10 years, five in Romania and five in UK. In her spare time, she enjoys long walks, going to the gym, shopping, reading and drinking coffee. Her favourite holiday destination is Prague and her dream holiday destination would be Thailand!

Stacie – Registered Nurse and Assistant Manager

From Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, Stacie has been nursing for 16 years and is a mental health nurse. In her spare time, she likes to travel, relax with her partner and their dog, have campfires and drink tea. Her favourite food is sushi and tapas and her favourite holiday destinations include Russia, Iceland, The Falklands… anywhere new!

“I fell into nursing my accident. A friend had sent off for the application form and then found out she was pregnant. I took the forms from her bin, applied on a whim and started six months later! I love the variety - no two days are the same. It’s a challenge but also a real privilege.”
