Brendoncare launches new community clubs in Winchester
Brendoncare has launched three new community clubs in Winchester with even more planned for the future.
At Winnall Community Centre, Brendoncare has started a Saturday morning Kurling Club, which runs between 10am and 11.30am. Kurling is a fun indoors game in which people of all abilities – both seated and standing – can participate.
A Seated Exercise Club, led by a trained instructor, is now running at Badger Farm Community Centre on Thursdays between 3pm and 4.30pm. Club members are taken through a series of gentle but effective exercises, designed to improve strength and mobility, all of which are done from a seated position.
Pub quiz
A new daytime pub quiz has also started at the Golden Lion pub in Alresford Road, Winchester. Running on Tuesdays between 11.00am and 12.30pm, it will offer a chance to exercise the brain cells while at the same time, meet new friends in an informal social setting.
A new Zumba Gold club in Winnall is also due to open in the next few weeks.
Friendship group
Already, Brendoncare organises the well-established Weeke Friendship Group, which meets at Weeke Community Centre on Fridays between 2pm and 4pm.
All the community services are run by Brendoncare Clubs.
Lydia Silverthorn, the Clubs’ Locality Manager said of the new activities:
“Our thriving network of more than 70 clubs across Hampshire and Dorset provides a fantastic opportunity for older people to enjoy regular social events, try out new activities and make new friends.
“We are delighted we have extended our club network in Winchester to include activities designed to keep people motivated and moving. Everybody is welcome to come and join us, enjoy some great company and have fun together
