About Chiltern View

Leading in Dementia Care

Dementia is a cruel disease, robbing people of their independence and changing individuals. At Brendoncare we are leading the way in dementia care. Pushing the boundaries of care through staff training, working in partnership with leading dementia care specialists and universities, to ensure we are providing the best quality of life to every individual resident.

Brendoncare Chiltern View is purpose-built care and offers excellent levels of safety, giving residents the opportunity for independence within their home. Nursing Home

Chiltern View provides a home where people can be helped to live as normally as possible and where the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment of life. The staff offer highly skilled nursing care when necessary and are proud to do so in an environment where residents are helped to feel they are still in charge of their own lives.

The atmosphere of the home is one of light and colour, and it is divided into self-contained households to give a home-like feel of small family units. Each household consists of 15 bedrooms, a welcoming sitting room and a small kitchen area. The entrance hall, sitting rooms and dining room are all comfortable and easy to identify, and provide sociable places to be with others. For those who prefer more peace and solitude, their privacy is respected.

The home’s philosophy is that residents should be able to make decisions for themselves and choose how to spend their time. At the same time, the professional knowledge and expertise of the staff ensures that skilled nursing care is provided appropriately.

Chiltern View enjoys close links with the local community and families and friends are encouraged to be involved. Many activities and outings are organised, and residents are encouraged to continue with previous leisure interests.

Led by an enthusiastic and well-qualified home manager, the staff at Chiltern View work as a very close team and are committed to the Brendoncare philosophy. They make every effort to provide care which promotes privacy, dignity and normality, and to understand each resident’s needs and preferences. Registered nurses are always on duty supported by well-trained care assistants, and all the staff receive continuous education and development. Local GPs and a Consultant Psychiatrist support the home and visit regularly, and a Clinical Psychologist is also closely involved. A chiropodist attends the home on a regular basis and other services can always be arranged.

"I regularly think how lucky I am to have such a pleasant home for my wife."

Husband of resident, November 2018

"The staff are welcoming and happy for me to visit every day. They reassure my mother that I am coming. If I can’t go because of illness, they tell Mum and speak to me on the phone."

Annual Relatives' Survey, November 2018

"Chiltern View provides brilliant person-centred care and I am very happy with the care given. I would find life extremely difficult without all the support I receive from Brendoncare."

Annual Relatives' Survey, November 2018

“My mum enjoyed her respite stay with you and we were delighted to find her stronger and brighter. Your philosophy of care has worked well for her.”

Daughter of resident, May 2017

“I would like to thank you most sincerely for inviting me to attend your Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on Friday.

“I had a wonderful afternoon. I was so impressed with the staff’s commitments to the residents and would like to say that it is a wonderful job they do. It was a very humbling experience and when talking to the relatives it came across that they too were very appreciative of the care and commitment that the staff show. One thing that particularly caught my attention was the old-fashioned pub area, little touches like that make such a difference.

“I would be grateful if you would pass on my thanks to all the staff and residents for making me feel so welcome.”

Cllr Alison Harrison, Deputy Town Mayor, Aylesbury Town Council

Specialist Dementia Care

People with dementia are cared for here by a team of highly trained and committed staff. Brendoncare knows the high level of support needed in caring for this very special group of people, and the staff are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those in their care.

Staff are trained to recognise and care for physical and psychological illness, and call at the right time upon the services of other health professionals. The household offers an environment that is dignified, safe and secure. It is calm, clean and clearly set out. Within a community setting, each resident has their own en-suite room in a bright yet calm and relaxing community atmosphere. All staff support this community, and are committed to building close relationships with residents, gaining a deep understanding of their individual health and social needs. There is an attractive, secluded garden designated especially for residents with dementia.

Accepting outside help in caring for a close friend or cherished family member is an enormous step. If you are ready to take that step, rest assured that the support, care and understanding of the staff at Brendoncare Chiltern View will help make the move easier.

Respite Care

Brendoncare Respite Care (Winchester)

Do you care for someone who needs support while you go on holiday or have a bit of time to focus on your needs? Perhaps you need some short-term care or some support while you recover from a hospital stay or operation? We can help.

Our approach to respite care is simple; a care and support plan devised around your needs and a warm welcome to our home, however long you are staying with us. Plus, there are options to extend your visit, if you feel you would like to stay with us longer, so you can take as long as you need to recuperate.

At all of our homes there is a full range of activities on offer for everyone to enjoy or quieter spaces for more tranquil moments. Food is an important part of every day and our chefs spend time with residents, finding out their likes and dislikes. While every Brendoncare home is different, the care provided by each is firmly based on the values of kindness, care, choice and community.
