Nursing Home
In the original Brendon House, there are 15 single rooms, most with en-suite facilities or private bathroom, a dining room and sitting room overlooking the enclosed garden. A further 25 ground-floor rooms are located in the nursing households, some with en-suite facilities and many with a door leading to the garden. These rooms enjoy access to the McAndrew Room, a large communal area with views of the garden which is used as a sitting room, dining room and as a focal point for many of the social activities within the home.
Most of the bedrooms have a view of the attractive mature gardens. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture and cherished personal possessions and to arrange their room as they choose so that it really feels like home. The entrance hall and welcoming sitting rooms are attractively furnished and provide a comfortable atmosphere where people can spend time with each other.
Brendoncare Park Road has close links with the local community. Its many volunteers are invaluable, organising coffee mornings and social events, running the library service and shopping trolley. Residents are encouraged to continue with previous leisure interests. Social activities include keep fit, arts and crafts, baking, reminiscence, quizzes, games and outings, and we have an Activities Organiser who holds NVQ3 in Care.
Meals are seen as an important part of the day and the chef provides a wide variety of home-cooked meals which are appetising and well presented, and always meet high nutritional standards. Special diets and personal preferences can be catered for. Residents can be served in their rooms but many enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the spacious dining room which overlooks the enclosed garden and where their family and friends can join them. We are always pleased to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special events. Family parties can also be arranged.
The philosophy of the home is that residents should be able to make decisions for themselves and choose how to spend their time. There are plenty of opportunities to be sociable but for those who prefer more peace and solitude, their privacy is respected.
Led by an experienced and well-qualified home manager, the staff at Brendoncare Park Road work as a close team and are committed to the Brendoncare philosophy. They make every effort to provide care which promotes privacy and dignity, and to understand each resident’s needs and preferences. Registered nurses are always on duty supported by well-trained care assistants, and all the staff receive continuous education and development. Local GPs support the home and visit regularly so that residents can be registered with the doctor of their choice. A chiropodist and physiotherapist attend the home on a regular basis and other services such as hairdressing can always be arranged.
Respite Care

Do you care for someone who needs support while you go on holiday or have a bit of time to focus on your needs? Perhaps you need some short-term care or some support while you recover from a hospital stay or operation? We can help.
Our approach to respite care is simple; a care and support plan devised around your needs and a warm welcome to our home, however long you are staying with us. Plus, there are options to extend your visit, if you feel you would like to stay with us longer, so you can take as long as you need to recuperate.
At all of our homes there is a full range of activities on offer for everyone to enjoy or quieter spaces for more tranquil moments. Food is an important part of every day and our chefs spend time with residents, finding out their likes and dislikes. While every Brendoncare home is different, the care provided by each is firmly based on the values of kindness, care, choice and community.

Testimonials
“We couldn’t ask for a better place for Nan to live.”
Granddaughter of resident
“My mum, who is 99, has lived here for just over a year now. It has a fabulous atmosphere and all the staff at all levels, from manager to catering assistants and cleaners are friendly and prepared to go the extra mile. We really couldn’t have found a better place for my mum to live. Throughout the pandemic they have supported her to take daily Zoom calls from all of us, including her granddaughters in America. Can’t recommend them highly enough.”

My 95-year-old Mum moved into Brendoncare Park Road in December 2018 after several respite stays which she always enjoyed. The staff have been very good at easing the transition from home to nursing home, always listening to any small issues arising and acting appropriately – very reassuring. All the staff are caring, kind, patient and professional and full of smiles. Nothing is too much trouble and communication to me is always very good. There is always a warm welcome to me and other visitors. My Mum and all the family are delighted with the care given.”

“We are very pleased with the response and helpfulness of Brendoncare, Park Road. Following a fall at home and several hours in casualty, they were able to admit my mother that same day and help her to recover from a very traumatic time. She has settled in well and is being well cared for. The staff are so kind and helpful and I have found their assistance very reassuring at a difficult time.”

“I would like to thank all the staff at Brendoncare who enabled my father to spend his last weeks with family around him when his needs were too great for him to go home from hospital after a stroke. The management bent over backwards to get a room ready in time for Dad to be discharged from hospital the day before his 60th wedding anniversary. The next day they threw my parents a tea party which will always remain one of the most important memories for the family.”

FSA Rating
Following on from the government’s latest updates, Brendoncare has updated our Covid-19 guidance.
Visitors are welcome into Brendoncare homes daily from 9am to 7pm. With Covid-19 still present in our communities, we ask that all visitors test before attending the care home, book their visit at least 24 hours in advance and wear a facemask while inside the home. Daily or regular visitors need only test twice each week. Should an outbreak be declared in the home, residents will still be able to welcome one visitor. End of Life care is always supported with 24 hour visiting. Our homes are welcoming new residents.
