The brand new-purpose built St Giles View stands on top of a hill in the beautiful city of Winchester where residents can enjoy stunning views across the South Downs. Friendly, compassionate staff dedicate themselves to improving wellbeing and providing professional care for residents, who can live well knowing their dignity and individuality will always be respected.
I am a relative newcomer to Brendoncare, arriving in March 2023 to manage Park Road before we all moved to the brand new St Giles View care home.
My career in social care began as a support worker, looking after adults with learning difficulties for an organisation where I stayed for 14 years, becoming the manager of four small homes.
Having managed a seven-bedroom home for adults with learning difficulties, I moved to Leonard Cheshire in 2015 to manage a 24 bedroom home for people with acquired brain injuries and complex nursing needs.
Now St Giles View is here and I cannot wait to see what this next chapter brings us all.
Food and wellbeing
St Giles View’s 60 ensuite nursing and dementia care bedrooms are arranged into three households across three floors, each named after a local Hampshire village. There is a 24-hour nurse call system in each with call points in the bedroom and ensuite wetroom. Some rooms have balconies; others have private outside space.
Carefully chosen furniture includes a bed, chairs, tables, a freestanding wardrobe and smart television. The décor in each of our rooms reflects the natural features of the leafy, tranquil part of Winchester overlooking the scenic South Downs.
Modern care technology includes acoustic monitoring which discreetly checks on residents during the night in case they need individual care.
Our east Winchester care home provides nursing, dementia, respite and end of life care.
Residents receive personalised care services tailored to their individual needs, delivered by our experienced nurses and carers who are available 24 hours a day.
Nursing care offers support to those requiring regular nursing due to complex needs such as physical illnesses or medical conditions.
Our trained staff provide dementia care in a safe environment.
Respite care gives short-term support to those recovering from an illness, hospital stay, or when carers take a break.
End of life (palliative) care supports those in the last months or years of their lives enabling them to continue living with dignity.

Our communal spaces at St Giles View enable people in the local community to join our residents for a variety of activities designed to improve their well-being and combat isolation.
