Celebrating Brendoncare’s magnificent men on International Men’s Day
Sunday 19th November is International Men’s Day, the perfect occasion to celebrate Brendoncare’s magnificent men who make a difference every day.
We paid a visit to meet some of Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill’s marvellous men who work in different roles there.
As we soon discovered, their reasons for working in a caring environment were very varied.
However, making a difference every day to our residents is the most important aspect of work. It can be in roles as diverse as caring, nursing, housekeeping, catering and maintenance.
Also, they all love working in teams where they have shared goals and feel part of a professional family.
We spoke to three of Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill’s team to find out more about what they do.
Will Richardson is one of the housekeepers. He enjoys the diverse work he undertakes. This includes looking after the residents, ensuring their rooms are clean and tidy, making sure the home always looking its best.
For carer Reagan Mwangi, it’s simply about loving to help people. Such is Reagan’s caring disposition, Cyril, one of the residents says of him: “He has a little something, I don’t know what, but he just brightens my day.”
Ian Bailey is Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill’s catering manager. He brings with him a wealth of experience gained in corporate and professional hospitality roles.
Coming to a care home to work was a real challenge for him. But he has turned this into a new opportunity. He is currently looking at new ways of providing the best possible service to residents, especially those with specific needs or are on special diets.
