Getting connected the Brendoncare way!
In this fast-paced online world, we at Brendoncare are committed to ensuring everyone is confident using the latest technology to keep us in touch and help us stay safe online.
One of the community support services Brendoncare offers is Digital Connections. This supports our members when they start using the internet on their laptops, smartphones and tablets.
During these sessions, Yildizhan Negargar, Brendoncare’s Training and Support Officer, also helps members feel more confident by exploring different issues relating to internet usage and safety.
“We would like to support our members as they start using various online services that are designed to make life less complicated,” Yildizhan explains.
“Whether you have any prior experience of using the internet or not, we can help you send emails, make video calls with your loved ones, and use different apps or websites to run errands such as shopping.”
Online events
Brendoncare is helping members learn more about the digital world in many ways. For example, as part of the Digital Connections initiative, there is a series of free online events coming up soon, the next one concentrating on consumer safety.
Yildizhan says: “As we enjoy the warm weather and make plans to have days out or holidays with our friends and family, it is important that we use safer websites and services to make bookings or find information about what is available. ”
Consumer safety
The Consumer Safety event is on Thursday 29th June at 10am. It will focus on how to use some of the websites such as Buy With Confidence, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot. As well as these websites that review the services provided by different businesses, the session will also look at organisations such as AgeUK and Citizens Advice that offer practical support on a variety of consumer-related issues.
AgeUK gives guidance on issues such as energy and water savings or changes to landline phones while Citizens Advice shows how to make complaints or deal with fraud and other internet-related fraud.
