Brendoncare Alton’s Dementia Care Team is in the finals for Great British Care Award

Winchester-based charity, The Brendoncare Foundation, is pleased to announce that the Dementia Care Team at Brendoncare Alton has been nominated as a finalist for the Care Team Award category within the Great British Care Awards.

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK, celebrating excellence in the care sector. The awards pay tribute to individuals and teams who are recognised as outstanding within their field of work.

Winners of the Great British Care Awards will be presented with their awards at a Gala dinner on 9th November in Brighton.

Brendoncare Alton’s Dementia Care Team will be represented at the awards dinner by Mila Alveras, a registered nurse originally trained in the Philippines, who has worked for Brendoncare for 19 years; Hilda Cerias, a senior carer and specialist in dementia care, who has worked for Brendoncare for 18 years; and Sean Daly, the Dementia Lead for the care home. Sean has a special interest in dementia, and delivers training across the home.

Brendoncare Alton provides nursing and residential care for 80 people, as well as specialist care for people living with dementia, including respite care. A close care complex adjoins the home, providing the independence and security of home ownership, combined with access to the home’s many caring and communal facilities, giving peace of mind.

Carole Sawyers, Brendoncare’s Chief Executive, said “We are delighted that Brendoncare Alton’s Dementia Care Team has been shortlisted for this award. They are truly deserving of this nomination; the whole team’s dedication and commitment to providing the best possible care for residents of Brendoncare Alton is outstanding.”
