Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill is the first truly dementia-focused community development offering three integrated services on one site, in the UK and welcomed its first residents in August 2018.
Its integrated approach provides a new model of care that offers a full range of support and services for those wishing to live independently through to end of life care.
Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill offers three core services: a dementia-friendly community and resource hub providing a dynamic and friendly space for residents and people from the local community; 20 purpose-built apartments for individuals and couples affected by dementia, enabling them to live together in their own home with ‘shared’ care, respite and emergency support available 24 hours a day; and a 64 bed care home offering specialist nursing and dementia care, respite and end of life care.
The pioneering dementia service greatly impacts the health and wellbeing of older people living with memory loss and dementia. For the first time in this country, couples and individuals are fully supported under one roof in order to live meaningful, independent and fulfilled lives.
Brendoncare is a registered charity with over thirty years’ experience of caring for older people. It is proud of its ‘Care for Life’ promise which means that no one will have to leave their Brendoncare home because of a change in financial circumstances.
Brendoncare’s Chief Executive, Carole Sawyers, said “This is an exciting time for us, we are delighted to be pioneering a new concept in dementia care and supporting people living both at Otterbourne Hill and in the local area. We are delighted to have welcomed our first residents.”
