Brendoncare are regional finalists in Great British Care Awards 2021

Winchester-based charity, The Brendoncare Foundation, is delighted to announce that four members of staff and one care team from four Brendoncare homes are regional finalists in the Great British Care Awards.

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK, celebrating excellence in the care sector. The awards pay tribute to individuals and teams who are recognised as outstanding within their field of work. The winners of the Regional Finals will then go onto attend the National Finals of the Great British Care Awards, which will take place in March 2022.

Great British Care Awards South East

In the South East, four nominees from Brendoncare were shortlisted as regional finalists for their categories.

Two staff members from Brendoncare Park Road have been shortlisted for two different award categories. Emelia Slater and Sara Gutierrez, Senior Care Assistants at Brendoncare Park Road, are both regional finalists in the Care Home Worker Award category and the Frontline Leaders Award category respectively!

Emelia has been recognised for always being positive and a real problem solver. She has stepped in to assist and support with a number of complex issues, including medication, which has had excellent outcomes. Emelia is popular with the residents and thought of very highly by the team at Park Road, especially due to her dedication and commitment to residents and her professional and flexible approach to work.

Sara has been recognised for being an extremely hard working and cheerful member of the team, who is immensely well-liked by the residents at Park Road. She is also a nutrition champion and has improved catering and nutrition outcomes at Park Road by really engaging with the residents, relatives and all of the team in the home.

Donna Hurd, Administrator at Brendoncare Alton, is also a South East regional finalist in the Ancillary Worker Award category. She has worked as Administrator for Brendoncare Alton for five years and is an integral part of the whole care home team. She is recognised for her commitment to supporting staff, residents and visitors in the home. She is always willing to help others whenever she can.

The care team at Brendoncare Stildon have also been shortlisted in the South East GBCA Regional Finals for the Care Team Award.

The South East finalists will attend their regional Gala Evening on 6th November 2021 at The Hilton Hotel, Brighton, where the winners will be presented with their awards.

Great British Care Awards South West

In the South West GBCA Regional Finals, David Barenskie, Deputy Manager at Brendoncare Woodhayes, was shortlisted for the Good Nurse Award. After being judged via an online interview, he will attend the South West Gala Evening on 5th November 2021 at Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol.

David is recognised for being a very dedicated and professional nurse who delivers a high standard of care in a dignified and respectful way to residents. He is an excellent Deputy Manager and manages the team well, inspiring confidence with his leadership style and bringing out the best in the staff by passing on his extensive knowledge and experience.
