The award-winning Southampton Voices Choir will be making a special appearance and will be performing a wide range of songs, from Abba to Bette Midler, Elvis to Neil Diamond, The Beatles to Sandie Shaw, and many more.
The open day is open to everyone in the local community and there will be the opportunity to meet other members and enjoy some friendly banter, whilst enjoying free refreshments, including cake donated by COOK Romsey. There will also be a bring and buy table and the chance to find out what is on offer at the Romsey Weekenders Club and other Brendoncare Clubs in the local area.
Run by Brendoncare Clubs and their fantastic team of volunteers, the Romsey Weekenders Club is one of Brendoncare’s 90+ clubs across Hampshire and Dorset, and meets every Saturday, 10.30am-12.30pm, at the Age Concern Hall, Linden Road, Romsey, SO51 8DB. Each week, members enjoy a varied programme of activities, including quizzes, craft activities, indoor games, guest speakers and entertainers.
Sara Nicholls, Locality Manager, said, “This clubs makes a huge difference to members’ lives. They come together for companionship and fun and look forward to meeting their friends every Saturday. The open day is a good opportunity for local people to find out what is on offer and to meet new people. Everyone is very welcome to come along and join in the fun.”
Brendoncare Clubs exists as a charity to champion positive, healthy ageing. Brendoncare believes in a society where every older person feels valued and included in their community and where no one feels alone. The clubs provide a friendly, fun, relaxed and supportive environment where older people can meet other club members, make friends and develop strong peer support networks. These networks are crucial when problems more prevalent to older age occur, such as the poor health or the loss of a partner or close friend.
