The Andover Saturday Club, run by Brendoncare Clubs, is celebrating Silver Sunday with a twist, it’s on Saturday 28th September.

The event at the United Reformed Church Hall, in East Street, Andover, will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm and is open to everyone in the local community. It is part of a national event to help overcome loneliness amongst older people.

At the event, the 1st Andover Girls’ Brigade will be welcoming members and visitors. The Girls’ Brigade will be singing and organising a selection of games and quizzes for all to enjoy. The event also provides a time for friendly banter, whilst enjoying free tea and cake.

Run by Brendoncare Clubs and their fantastic team of volunteers, the Andover Saturday Club is one of Brendoncare’s 90+ clubs across Hampshire and Dorset, and meets every Saturday, 10.30am to 12.30pm, at the United Reformed Church Hall in Andover.

Each week, members enjoy a varied programme of activities, including quizzes, craft activities, guest speakers and games such as skittles, horse racing and bingo. A music workshop is also planned for a future meeting.

Chris Roche, Hampshire Brendoncare Club Support, said, “This clubs makes a huge difference to members’ lives. They come together for companionship and fun and look forward to meeting their friends every Saturday. This event is a good opportunity for local people to find out what is on offer and to meet new people. Everyone is very welcome to come along and join in the fun.”

Silver Sunday is a national event and is organised by the Sir Simon Milton Foundation, a charity that works to reduce loneliness and isolation amongst older people. The event provides older people an opportunity to get out of the house, try new things and meet new people as well as to find out about local services that are available throughout the year.
