Sarah joined Brendoncare as a Trustee within the last year, having a background in general practice. She says “I am very inspired by Brendoncare’s charitable work, both in Care for Life and in Brendoncare Clubs. In addition, I am really impressed with the commitment and enthusiasm of the staff I have met, who work so hard for the worthwhile and ambitious aims of this charity. I find their enthusiasm infectious!”
The monthly café, organised by Sarah’s local church, takes place in the Sutton Scotney’s Village Hall and supports a different charity every month. July’s nominated charity was Brendoncare, and Sarah was joined by Phoebe Tanner from the Fundraising team to help run the café for the day.
“The Fundraising team were brilliant! They took a real interest in what we were doing, and made sure we had collection pots and flyers, with information about Brendoncare for the café customers to read and take away. Phoebe was a great addition to the team on the day, not only to talk to people about the work that Brendoncare does, but also to help run the café.”
Sarah says the café was a great opportunity to raise awareness as well as money: “We had at least one couple who came BECAUSE we were raising money for Brendoncare. I think raising the profile of Brendoncare in villages where there isn’t necessarily a Brendoncare home or club is an important consideration for recruiting volunteers as well as raising funds.”
Fundraising Manager Phoebe Tanner said: “We’d like to say an enormous thank you to Sarah and the rest of the super cake baking team for their wonderful support. I came away with a full stomach and a big smile on my face!”
