The Dementia Café ‘Smile & Share’ will be held at the Brendoncare Alton care home and will run from 2.30pm to 4.00pm. There will be free tea and cake, some relaxation music, activities and crafts to enjoy. Activities will include the OmiVista Interactive Sensory Projector and table top games, such as dominoes, for all to take part in.
This new initiative, ‘Smile & Share’, with Dementia-friendly Alton, is an opportunity for those with dementia and their families, carers and friends to meet with each other for support, reminiscence and relaxation.
After the initial launch of the Dementia Café on Monday 9 September, the event will continue every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. There will be a variety of activities, crafts, entertainers and events for visitors to enjoy.
Lynne Hewitt, General Manager, of Brendoncare Alton, said, “We are looking forward to welcoming the local community to our home. We hope they will take the opportunity to enjoy some relaxation time over a cup of tea and cake.
“We have close links with Dementia-friendly Alton and we are thrilled to be working together on this new initiative.”
