Christmas is upon us and, once again, local charity The Brendoncare Foundation, is teaming up with choral group, Winchester Consort, for their annual seasonal concert at Winchester College Chapel on Sunday 9th December. This year, there will be contemporary and traditional Christmas favourites, by composers including: Tavener, Howells, Holst and Stanford. However, as part of the Foundation’s ‘I Care’ campaign, the concert will also include a very special performance from the Brendoncare Southampton Voices, one of Brendoncare’s friendship and activity clubs for older people.
Carole Sawyers, Chief Executive Officer, for the Brendoncare Foundations says, “This Christmas, we want to promote the voices of older people in our communities and encourage others to remember and advocate their importance to us and across our local areas.”
As such, as part of the concert, the Southampton Voices will be performing ‘Silent Night’, to represent the silent voices of older people in communities. A selection of speakers from Brendoncare, including club members, will also be sharing their experiences of older life, as part of the performance.
Tickets are still available for this weekend’s concert – please telephone 01962 852133 for more information.
The Southampton Voices come together every Saturday at the Oasis Academy in Lordshill, enjoying a wide range of songs. Everyone is welcome to join the club, whether they have sung with a group before or not.
