We are very excited to announce our new energy saving initiative across our care homes – a chance to save electricity, save money, save the planet and stay safe.
As we’re starting to get ready for winter and the evenings are drawing in, September Switch Off gives everyone the chance to really think about the energy that is used unnecessarily across our homes – particularly through lights, fans and radios that are left on when a room is empty.
From 1-30 September 2018, each home’s energy consumption will be monitored and compared to usage during the same month in 2017. The home that has made the biggest saving on last year’s energy usage will then win a prize – something for the residents and staff to enjoy.
This bright idea originally came to Andy Oliver, who covers Maintenance across the homes, whilst in the bath one day, “One of my biggest frustrations when visiting the homes is finding empty rooms with the lights and fans left on. I wanted to come up with something that would not only save the Foundation money but also keep our staff and residents safer.”
