Volunteering

Do you have the time to make a real difference?

If you have time to spare, or skills and interests to share, we would love to hear from you.

You can volunteer in one of our care homes across the south of England, or with one of our growing network of social and friendship clubs for older people across Dorset and Hampshire. Volunteers are essential to achieving our aim to empower people to live their whole life well, and fulfilling our commitment to provide a high quality of life for our residents and club members.

A small amount of time can make a real difference to their lives. And for you, volunteering can be a lot of fun and a great way to keep physically, mentally and socially active, and meet new people.

We are lucky to have volunteers working in all areas of Brendoncare, giving their time and expertise in so many ways, whether entertaining residents in our homes, leading activities in our community clubs, or providing much needed telephone support to those at home. Their energy and enthusiasm is invaluable and allows us to make such a positive difference – we can’t thank them enough!

I enjoy speaking to different members daily and having conversations with them about various things. I love knowing that my calls are helping the person on the other side in small ways, such as them not feeling isolated and just having a friend to speak to about anything.

Volunteer FAQ’s

There’s no such thing as a typical volunteer. We have students, parents who want to keep busy while the children are at school, people who can’t work for medical reasons, people who are retired and want to stay busy. Ages range from 14 to 90+ and they provide a wide range of services, with commitment varying from one hour a week to many hours each week spread over several days. However much time is given, it is fully appreciated.

Each of our care homes has a dedicated team of volunteers who support staff in the provision of social activities and general interaction with residents, both of which are vital to their wellbeing.

Our extensive network of clubs across Hampshire and Dorset are run by volunteer teams, who provide regular meeting opportunities for people who live independently in the community. During the coronavirus pandemic, our volunteers have also been keeping in contact with club members at home, providing telephone calls, written communication and support with virtual services.

We also have some volunteers who carry out specific tasks for us from our central support office in Winchester.

Our volunteers are the best there are, and there are always opportunities for more to join us

As a volunteer, you will support the work of Brendoncare, meet new people, learn new skills and revisit old interests, and do something worthwhile and inspiring. Most of all, you will have fun, and we hope you will be proud of the fact that you are making a difference to the lives of older people in your communities.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, finding out more about the volunteer roles we have available, or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us by calling 01962 857097 or you can fill in the form above to receive a call back.
