How you can help
Brendoncare leads the way with volunteering
Since 2009 Brendoncare has been at the helm of volunteering in the Care Industry with its Investing in Volunteers accreditation. This independently awarded accreditation recognises the quality and commitment of volunteering within the charity. Uniquely it is an accreditation that covers both care and community aspects of the charity’s work.
With 10 Care Homes across the south of England, each with a team of volunteers supporting staff in the provision of social activities and interaction, and 70 Clubs across Hampshire, Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole providing regularly meeting opportunities for people who live independently in the community, the Volunteer Team is a dynamic force.
Smiles all round
As a Brendoncare volunteer you will put smiles on the faces of residents and club members alike.
Our volunteers are the best there are and we would like to welcome you into our team. There is the opportunity to be a volunteer in one of our 10 care homes or one of the 85+ social clubs for older people in Hampshire, Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole. Volunteers are always welcomed as you help us in our commitment to provide a high quality of life for our residents and club members. It’s remarkable how a small amount of time can make a real difference to someone’s life. Please download our volunteer application form.
For many, old age is a lonely time and loved ones may live some distance away. By giving just a small amount of your time, you can help enrich the lives of local older people. You may have a few spare hours or you may wish to gain valuable experience by volunteering in a care environment. Whatever your reasons we want to hear from you.
There’s no such thing as an average volunteer. We have:
- Sixth form students
- Mums wanting to fill the gap left by the children going to school
- People who can’t work any more due to an accident or illness
- People who’ve taken early retirement
- People who’ve taken statutory retirement but who wanted to remain ‘busy’
- People who have been retired for a long time but don’t want to sit around waiting!
Our volunteers range in age from 16 to 90+ and provide a range of services in our homes and clubs. Their commitment varies from one hour a week to many hours a week spread over several days. However much time is given it is fully appreciated by Brendoncare.
As a volunteer you can:
- Support the work of Brendoncare
- Meet new people
- Learn new skills and revisit old interests
- Do something worthwhile and inspiring
You will receive a full induction and basic training as well as the opportunity to join a variety of training sessions. We want you to have fun, make friends and, maybe, learn new skills. Most of all, we hope that you will be proud of the fact that you are making a difference to the lives of the older people living near you.
Without volunteers we would not be able to achieve all that we do. Please help us make a difference. To learn more about volunteering, please contact Volunteering Manager Ruth Morris on 01962 857097.
