About Meadway
Combining warmth and community spirit with caring expertise, the home enables residents to be cared for, secure in the knowledge that their individuality will be respected however frail they may become.
Brendoncare Meadway provides a home where older people can be helped to live as normally as possible and where the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment of life. The staff offer good care and are proud to do so in an atmosphere where residents can feel they are still in charge of their own lives.
Brendoncare is a registered charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people through our 10 care homes and 90 friendship and wellbeing clubs. Brendoncare Meadway, our popular care home in Winchester, provides residential care for 13 residents in St Cross, enabling older people to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives.
Testimonials
“My father has been a resident at Meadway for just over a year now, and I cannot praise the staff there enough. It has been especially comforting that he has been there during these difficult Covid times – it has taken a great weight off my mind as I don’t have to worry about him being in his house on his own. I would absolutely recommend Meadway to anyone.”

“My mother has been at Brendoncare Meadway for five months. My wife and I have been very impressed with the care and attentiveness of the staff, and the ambience and cleanliness of the home. We now volunteer there. We feel our efforts are appreciated by residents and staff alike. We would commend this home as of a high standard.”

“We are strongly impressed with the staff. They are all caring and often go that extra mile, e.g. some months ago my sister was getting married and we had an early start. The staff made sure that Mum was ready on time and one of them even came in specially on her day off to do Mum’s hair and make-up!”
Annual Relatives’ Survey, November 2018
“Meadway is a very special place. Small, homely, very personal with a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and residents make them individual and like home. The public rooms are light, airy and not at all institutional. Lovely gardens. But what makes Meadway is the staff – without exception, caring, loving, relaxed, patient and kind – from the manager and administrator, through to the carers, cooks, cleaners and handyman. They take time with every resident and are always smiling and cheerful. They go the extra mile to cater for any individual requests or alternative food requests. They respond promptly day and night. My relative has settled very happily and is very happy with th”e staff and home. I cannot recommend highly enough!”

“Having worked at as General Practitioner I have encountered many different residential homes and care settings and can say without a doubt that we have been extremely fortunate in having found a place for my mother at Meadway. It is a small care home, and as soon as you go through the front door you can sense how homely, relaxed and caring the environment is. The staff are attentive and experienced and take demands and difficulties in their stride. The food is excellent and individually tailored to the residents’ wishes, and my mother is now eating a lot better and is delighted with the standard. There are comfortable places to sit, both inside and in the lovely gardens. The care is methodical and organised but flexible when necessary, and the staff are proactive in looking for extra ways to help. The manager is excellent, shows experience, commitment and sensitivity, and is respected by the staff. They are happy, work well as a team and are rightly proud of the care they offer.”

“Last week I visited a friend who had moved into Brendoncare Meadway and was amazed and delighted to find such a light, airy, fresh and friendly arrangement of rooms rather like the comfort of a country house (not a hotel). So impressed was I that the very next morning I telephoned to reserve a place for myself.”

Respite Care

Do you care for someone who needs support while you go on holiday or have a bit of time to focus on your needs? Perhaps you need some short-term care or some support while you recover from a hospital stay or operation? We can help.
Our approach to respite care is simple; a care and support plan devised around your needs and a warm welcome to our home, however long you are staying with us. Plus, there are options to extend your visit, if you feel you would like to stay with us longer, so you can take as long as you need to recuperate.
At all of our homes there is a full range of activities on offer for everyone to enjoy or quieter spaces for more tranquil moments. Food is an important part of every day and our chefs spend time with residents, finding out their likes and dislikes. While every Brendoncare home is different, the care provided by each is firmly based on the values of kindness, care, choice and community.
