About Stildon
Stildon is specifically designed to enable older people to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives. Conveniently situated close to the centre of East Grinstead, the purpose-built home is set back from the road, surrounded by pretty mature gardens. Stildon provides a home where older people are encouraged to live as normally as possible while maintaining their independence and emphasising quality and enjoyment of life. Staff offer skilled care and are proud to do so in an atmosphere where residents feel in charge of their lives.
Brendoncare is a registered charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for older people through our care homes and community clubs. Brendoncare Stildon is a care home in West Sussex providing nursing care for 32 older people, with an additional 11 extra care apartments for independent assisted living.
Nursing Home
Stildon in East Grinstead provides nursing care for 32 residents and has been designed to provide a home-like atmosphere where individual needs can be met. The accommodation is laid out in two households, each with 16 single bedrooms, a sitting room, dining room, kitchenette and two assisted bathrooms. All the bedrooms are a generous size with en-suite facilities including a shower. The welcoming entrance hall, sitting rooms and dining rooms all provide comfortable places where people can spend time together.
Led by an experienced and well-qualified home manager, the staff at Stildon work as a very close team and are committed to providing high standards of care. They make every effort to provide care which promotes privacy and dignity and to understand each resident’s needs and preferences.
Registered nurses are always on duty supported by well trained care assistants and all the staff receive continuous education and development. Local GPs support the home and visit regularly so that residents can be registered with the doctor of their choice. A chiropodist attends regularly and other services can always be arranged.
Stildon has close links with the local community which supports the life of the home through fundraising and volunteer activity. There are many regular visitors to the home and frequent events and outings are organised.
Our commitment to the small team approach to care makes it possible to build close relationships and gain an understanding of each resident’s individual health and social needs.

Respite Care
Do you care for someone who needs support while you go on holiday or have a bit of time to focus on your needs? Perhaps you need some short-term care or some support while you recover from a hospital stay or operation? We can help.
Our approach to respite care is simple; a care and support plan devised around your needs and a warm welcome to our home, however long you are staying with us. Plus, there are options to extend your visit, if you feel you would like to stay with us longer, so you can take as long as you need to recuperate.
At all of our homes there is a full range of activities on offer for everyone to enjoy or quieter spaces for more tranquil moments. Food is an important part of every day and our chefs spend time with residents, finding out their likes and dislikes. While every Brendoncare home is different, the care provided by each is firmly based on the values of kindness, care, choice and community.

End-of-life Care
Our end-of-life services are focused on providing expert support for individuals and their families as they approach their last days, in a respectful, dignified and comfortable environment.
Our qualified, experienced staff are on hand at all times to provide nursing care, which is based on the expressed wishes of the individual. We work with other healthcare professionals to create a palliative approach which supports the person and their family.
In 2020, Brendoncare Stildon won a Quality Hallmark Award for end-of-life care from the National Gold Standards Framework Centre, the UK’s largest provider of training in end-of-life care.
The National Gold Standards Framework is about giving the right person, the right care, in the right place, at the right time, every time.

Testimonials
“I am so thankful I picked Stildon for my 92-year-old mum to recover from another fall and resulting operation on her leg. She ended up staying 2 months. So many of the staff were so caring, so kind and so helpful to me as well as Mum. Efficient yet so friendly. It was like a home from home! Can’t recommend it enough! Lovely atmosphere, brilliant staff including nurses, office staff, reception, carers, cleaners, laundry staff, repairmen, it was every level of staff and of course, the manager who is lovely, so caring, understanding and patient. If Mum ever needs to stay anywhere again. I would definitely choose Stildon again.”
Daughter of Resident
“In all cases for my husband, we find he is well catered for in care nursing and respect. The staff are really tolerant and the manager is first class in advising the relatives during this most turbulent year. Overall Stildon gives the feeling of belonging to a large family. I really do sincerely appreciate the calm I feel with my husband being truly cared for. Thank you.”
Wife of Resident
“I have just recommended a friend who needed two weeks respite and she was so happy. Loved the food and spoke well of the care she had.”
Friend of Respite Resident
“I can’t fault the willingness of all the staff at Stildon to please. The residents and visitors are always treated with respect, dignity and a good shovelful of kindness. The building is well designed with the nurses stations and services in the centre of a “roundabout” of rooms over two floors. No one room is cut-off in this scenario and all staff, from the bottom to the top, were always passing Mum’s door to smile, wave and generally keep an eye on her. My mum was infirm and suffering from dementia. She went into Stildon three years ago. I was worried about admitting her, but she was made so very welcome and had a lovely room with a door into a garden, that she quickly told me “I like it here”. At first she was well enough to spend time in the communal areas which she loved. As her health failed, she needed more nursing care which I found to be exemplary. Sadly, she has passed away now but that aspect of her residency was handled with the utmost respect and kindness for us both too.”
Daughter of Resident
“From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable qualified staff who showed us the facilities available. Stildon is immaculate with comfortable rooms and cleaned to a high standard. My father was shown compassion by all staff members and we were content knowing he was in good hands.”
Daughter of Resident
“The home has a relaxed and very friendly atmosphere, I always feel so welcome when I visit. I feel that the staff do actually care about the residents more as part of an extended family group and particularly enjoy the humorous ‘banter’ that is exchanged without loss of professional behaviour to resident and visitor alike…I recommend Stildon to anyone who finds themselves needing residential care.”
