As a charity, we invest in tackling issues facing older people, offering excellent care, supportive housing and welcoming community services including clubs, telephone and online support. Where possible we co-locate our services to offer a broad range of continuous support. We measure our success in terms of impact on lives rather than profit to shareholders and are proud members of the National Care Forum for not-for profit care providers.
Our charitable vision informs every decision we make. We provide places and services that empower older people. These include our Care for Life promise that removes worry by providing stability and continuity of care for residents.
We offer affordable community services for older people, the majority of whom choose to continue living independently. These services help to combat loneliness and exclusion, improving wellbeing and community connections.
We research and pilot new ways of working for both care and community activities, such as acoustic monitoring in care homes, dementia-friendly apartments for couples, volunteer-led exercises in our clubs, and social spaces in our homes where residents and the local community can come together.

Our people
Our Care for Life promise ensures that when we welcome a permanent resident into one of our homes, we will never ask them to leave due to lack of funds, giving enormous relief to those who live with us and their families.
Care for Life is a charitable top-up payment that can support those residents whose funds may have run down to the threshold set by the local authority. Care for Life makes up the difference between the rate we agree that the local authority contributes and the full fee.

Knowing that 96% of older people continue to live in the community, we offer affordable community services. These services help to combat loneliness and exclusion, improving wellbeing and community connections.
Whilst we work hard to ensure our community services membership fees are affordable, we recognise that some people may need financial assistance. Our access fund ensures that lack of funds are never a barrier to accessing our community services.
We are continually looking for new ways to improve lives for both our care and community activities. We invest in innovative care technology in our care homes, such as digital care planning and acoustic monitoring. We incorporate dementia-friendly designs in our care homes and in our dementia-friendly apartments to enable couples to stay together at Otterbourne Hill. We also have social spaces so residents and the community can come together. We partner with leading researchers piloting work in such areas as empowering people to live well with dementia (material citizenship) and volunteer-led exercises.
We are nothing without our people. All colleagues are trained and have access to career development opportunities whatever their career path, be it in care or non-care areas. Learning opportunities are available for throughout your career, including Level 2 to Level 7 qualifications, management and leadership training for those in management positions, plus support for those whose job roles require specialist skills such as finance, HR or marketing.
