Books and Much More in March with Brendoncare

March is always an exciting month, heralding the arrival of spring and longer days. Thursday 7th March is also World Book Day and we have an exciting programme of talks and activities ahead for all Brendoncare’s bookworms.

We cannot imagine a better way to celebrate World Book Day than by talking to three accomplished local writers throughout March.

Here, Yildizhan Negargar, our Training and Support Officer, who is a huge book fan, explains more about the wonderful programme of events she has organised for you.

These talented Hampshire and Dorset-based authors who will tell you all about their writing journeys and experiences. These talks will give us all a chance to find out what inspires them!

On 5th March at 3pm, we will be joined by the novelist, poet and scriptwriter, Gail Aldwin. Her first two coming-of-age novels were runners-up in the Dorchester Literary Festival Writing Prize 2020 and 2022. You can book your place for In Conversation with novelist and poet Gail Aldwin here.

On 14th March at 3pm, we welcome award-winning Winchester-based novelist Helen Matthews for a thrilling afternoon! Helen writes page-turning psychological suspense novels. The darker side of human nature fascinates her as does how a life can change in an instant.  Book your place here.

 

Clubs Jude Hayland

Make yourself a cuppa and join us for a Conversation with Novelist and Creative Writing Tutor Jude Hayland. Find us on Zoom on 21st March at 3pm and look forward to a bookish afternoon.  Jude began her writing career as a commercial short story writer for women’s magazines. She  was published nationally and internationally for many years. A Winchester resident of 30 years, Jude is currently working on her fifth novel. Jude also runs creative writing workshops and classes.

As well as our author talks, I will be hosting an online workshop Library in Your Pocket on 28th March at 2pm. She will share with you hints and tips on how to download audiobooks, e-books and magazines from your library free of charge. If you would like to find out more, book your place here.
